Procedural Environment: A USD Pipeline Study
This project is the result of a four-month intensive collaboration focused on mastering a production-ready VFX workflow. Working in a team of four, we implemented a full USD (Universal Scene Description) pipeline to manage a complex environment with a focus on procedural generation and large-scale layout.
My role involved developing the initial concept and executing the look-development for key assets. I was responsible for the procedural dome structure, scene layout, jet UV layout, shading, and final lighting. To bring the sequence to a cinematic finish, I handled the multi-pass compositing in Nuke, ensuring a seamless integration of all CG elements.
The challenge was to simulate a real-world production environment while balancing full-time work. This project pushed my technical boundaries in Houdini and solidified my understanding of high-end VFX pipelines.
Technical Focus: USD Pipeline, Proceduralism, Look-Dev.
Software: Houdini (Solaris/Karma), Nuke.
My Contribution: Concept Art, Asset Shading (Jet), Environment Layout, Lighting & Compositing.
